Women's XC Competes at Chile Pepper Classic

Fayetteville, Arkansas – The foursome of the women's cross country team competed in the Chile Pepper Classic on Saturday morning. The Bucks competed against 347 other athletes in the college 5K race's second heat that consisted of NJCAA, NCAA DII, and NAIA schools.  

The race was paced with a winning time of 17:28.5 by Central Missouri's Cynthia Togom. The Mendez twins lead the way for the Bucks. The Fort Smith, AR natives finished three seconds apart. Miriam Mendez finished in 277th with a time of 23:25.4. Marlenne Mendez followed with a time of 23:28.2. Teammate Shannan Gardner (Ward, AR) finished five runners back with a time of 23:35.4. The Bucks will be back in action competing for a regional championship on Saturday, October 12th, at the Lion's Club in Mena.
