Bucks Blanked by #7 Seminole State

Ada, Oklahoma – The Rich Mountain Bucks (2-10-2 overall; 2-7-2) faced the 7th rank team in the country, Seminole State (12-0-2 overall; 9-0-1), on Thursday afternoon. The Trojans held a 2-0 lead at the half and went on the flex their muscles to a 5-0 win over the Bucks. The match was played at East Central University. 

Seminole looked to score early and often. With 2:13 played in the match, #21 Kaymon Thomas found the back of the net (assisted by #13 Rebeca Garcia) on a driven kick from the corner over the keeper's head. SSC looked to continue their dominance with a possessing the ball that lead to the second goal of the half. The goal was scored by #9 Kayle DeLeon (assisted by Rebeca Garcia). The Bucks looked to bounce back with two shots by Inek Johnson (Lubbock, TX) and Isabel Martinez (New Hamburg, Ontario), but SSC would counter and maintain possession for much of the half. The Bucks' defense remained strong led by Maria Diedrick (Merrivale, South Africa) and Kateya Jacobz (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa). The Trojans led 2-0 at the intermission.

The Trojans once again wanted to start fast with two shots. Arcelia Marquez (Lubbock, TX) saved the only shot on goal, and the Bucks would counter with a shot of their own. Madison Zamudio's (Mansfield, TX) shot was saved by the Trojans' keeper, #0 Giselle Longoria. After 4 SSC shots, #3 Amaya Grace (assisted by Cynthia Armas) connected for the third goal of the match. After the Bucks' kickoff, the Trojans maintained possession with 3 shots, before #11 Jackie Garcia (assisted by #22 Audrey Collins) found the back of the net in the 75th minute to extend the lead to 4-0. In the final 15 minutes, Seminole controlled the ball, and Garcia would score (assisted by #20 Abby Qualls) as the final buzzer sounded. The Trojans would win 5-0.

The Bucks will be back in action on Sunday, October 20th, at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, OK. The women kickoff at 2 pm with the men to follow at 4 pm.
