Women's Soccer Falls to #12 Seminole State

Mena, Arkansas – The 12th ranked Seminole State Trojans won in dominating fashion on Sunday afternoon at Bearcat Stadium. The Trojans showed no doubt on why they are nationally ranked and defeated the Bucks 5-1.

To start off the scoring action, Seminole scored twice within the 12th minute with #11 Jackie Garcia's goal that was assisted by #3 Amaya Grace. Twenty-two seconds later, the Trojans stole the kickoff and #3 Amaya Grace scored a goal of her own. The Trojans wouldn't score again until the 40th minute when Grace found the back of the net again to extend their lead 3-0 going into halftime.

The 12th ranked Trojans wasted no time in the second half and advanced the ball deep into the Bucks defense. An unlucky header deflected off of a Bucks defender into the goal to increase the Trojans lead 4-0. Madison Zamudio (Mansfield, TX) found the back of the net on a well struck ball that found its way over the keepers head. The goal was assisted by Inek Johnson (Lubbock, TX) and cut the Trojans lead to 4-1. Shortly after, Seminole State's Tracy Akiror Jones scored the last goal for the evening in the 65th minute of the match. The goal would bring the match to the final score of 5-1. Both teams would trade possession for the rest of the match.

In the Trojan's victory, the women would have 19 shots with 14 on goal. The Bucks would have 4 shots on the evening with 3 being on goal. Briana Salinas (Fort Worth, TX) would record 8 saves on the afternoon for the Bucks. Seminole State had 3 corner kicks compared to 2 for the Bucks. Rich Mountain's Inek Johnson and Seminole State's Juni Ejere would receive a yellow card a piece.

The women will be back in action on Thursday, September 26th, at 3 pm at Eastern Oklahoma State in Wilburton.
