Bucks Finish 8th at Little Rock Open

Little Rock, Arkansas – Bucks Cross Country is fresh off their Regional Championship and looking for another strong race to finish the regular season at the Little Rock Open in War Memorial Park Saturday morning. The weather was sunny and in the 50s, which made it a perfect day for race day. Rich Mountain was the only junior college competing against NCAA D1 & D2 programs, along with NAIA schools as well. The Bucks would finish 8th in the 12 team field.

The UCA Bears lead the way with 22 points and had the lead runner with a time of 26:02.8 in the men's 8K race. Leading the way for the Bucks was Jordan Foster (Mena, AR) with a time of 28:30.4. The time was good enough for 30th of the 110 competitors. Michael Tenorio (Sante Fe, New Mexico) wasn't far behind in 37th with a time of 28:51.6. The only other Buck to finish in under 30 minutes was Mena's own Cross Hughes (29:52.9) in 47th place. Osman Flores (Rogers, AR) finished fourth in what has been his best race of the season with a time of 30:28.9 (56th place). Rounding out the top five points scorers was JP Rojas (Paris, TX) in 73rd with a time of 31:34.2. Other runners for the Bucks were Ethan Sanders (31:56.2; 79th), Clint Buck (31:59.6; 80th), and Asael Sanchez (33:25.5; 86th).

Coach Samantha Shores feels good about her team going into the National Championship. "We've accomplished a lot of our goals for this season. We have won 3 races this year (all perfect scores), including the Regional Championship. We've got a few weeks off to train, rest, and get Robert McIntyre healed up. We have another goal of finishing in the top 15 at nationals."

This was the last regular season race leading up to the National Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 9th.
