Bucks XC Sweeps Region 2 Championship with Perfect Score

Mena, Arkansas – The Rich Mountain Bucks were on a mission to finish with their third PERFECT SCORE of the season and did just that. The Bucks runners ran off and left the competition Saturday morning on a wet and muddy course to win the Region 2 Championship in dominating fashion. The Bucks ran an 8K race (just shy of 5 miles) and competed against four other Region 2 schools: Carl Albert State College, Connors State College, National Park College, and Redlands Community College.

Like every race so far this season, Jordan Foster lead the way for the men and won first overall with a time of 28:30.3. Michael Tenorio (29:49.9) and Cross Hughes (30:04.7) finished out the podium with 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Bucks weren't done yet. Asael Sanchez (30:05.2) and Robert McIntyre (30:18.4) rounded out the top five. Redlands would score a runner in 6th, but Rich Mountain had two more runners finish 7th and 8th: Osman Flores (31:11.4) and Clint Buck (31:25.8). Ethan Sanders (32:03.7) would finish 11th overall, and JP Rojas (32:10.4) finished 14th.

The Bucks dominated the team score with a PERFECT SCORE of 10 points with having the first five runners finish the race. Relands CC finished as runner-ups with 38 points, and Carl Albert finished 3rd with 52.

The Bucks still have two races left this season, next Saturday at the Little Rock Open (hosted by UALR) and the National Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 9th.

The Bucks would like to thank the following for their continued support and help this season: Lion's Club, Dr. Michael Wood, Chip Koppein APRN, Keith Willsey, and Samantha Maechler Photography.
