Bucks Blast Four Home Runs; Run-Rule Arkansas Baptist

(April 18, 2023) Little Rock, Arkansas - Coming off a losing all four games of their region series at Western Oklahoma last weekend, the Bucks were looking to rebound in a mid-week game against Arkansas Baptist. Earlier this season, the Bucks run-ruled Arkansas Baptist 15-3 at Union Bank Field. 

The Bucks got the same result as the previous matchup, run-ruling the Buffaloes 13-3 in 8 innings. After jumping out to an early 4-0 lead, the Buffaloes scored a run in the bottom of the second and 2 more in the bottom of the third to make it a one run game at 4-3. After a pair of scoreless innings, the Bucks scored 9 runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to secure the 13-3 win. 

The Bucks hit four home runs on the day, including a pair of solo home runs by Blake Hadsell (Keller, TX), a 3-run shot by Casey Shipley, and a top of the eighth grand slam by Blake Ritter (Ashdown, AR). The men also scored twice on walks and passed balls.

Austin Rainey (Conway, AR) got the start on the mound, lasting 3.0 innings. The left hander gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits, striking out 6 and walking a pair. Ashton Perkins (Pearland, TX) (2-2) pitched the next 3.0 innings and picked up the win. He gave up no runs on 2 hits and struck out 5. Aden Almeida (Rogers, AR) and Jackson Wilson (Palestine, AR) pitched an inning a piece to finish the game. 

The Bucks have one more mid-week contest next week at Eastern Oklahoma. The men will now turn their attention to a 4-game region series with NOC-Tonkawa. The Bucks travel to Tonkawa on Thursday and will play a doubleheader at home on Saturday.
