Bucks Fall in Region Series with South Ark

(March 25, 2022) Mena, Arkansas - Coming off a series sweep of Carl Albert last week and picking up a mid-week win over Eastern Oklahoma, the Bucks turned their attention to the South Arkansas Stars this week for a region series. The Bucks and Stars squared off in El Dorado on Thursday and at home yesterday afternoon at Union Bank Field.

South Arkansas took all four games from the Bucks: 12-3, 16-5, 10-6, and 13-7. 

The Bucks are now 5-7 in Region II, while South Arkansas is at the top of the standings with a 10-2 record after Saturday. 

Highlights from the series:

Five in a Row - Dating back to last Friday in the series with Carl Albert, Casey Shipley (Prairie Grove, AR) has now went deep five days in a row with 2 home runs yesterday afternoon. He also tallied 7 RBIs in the South Ark series with 4 runs scored and 3 walks. 

Five Hits - Besides Shipley, Cooper White (Benton, AR) and Kolby Webb (Cabot, AR) recorded 5 hits in the four games.

Hit-By-Pitches - The Bucks were hit 9 times at the plate, including Trevor Flake (North Little Rock, AR) getting plunked 3 times.

Stolen Bases - The Bucks took 6 bases in the series. Flake led with 3 stolen bases. 

Batting Average Against - After pitching 5.0 innings in the win on Tuesday, Hunter Alexander (Bigelow, AR) pitched another 5.0 innings on Saturday, recording a .176 BAA. He also led the Bucks with 7 strikeouts in the series. 

Earned Run Average - Jackson Wilson (Palestine, AR) gave up only a 1 earned run in his 4.2 innings of work. A week after recording 2 wins in a day and being named the Region II Pitcher of the Week. 

Double Plays - The defense turned 3 double plays on the week. 

The Bucks now turn their attention to their region series with Redlands Community College. The Bucks and Cougars are slated for a doubleheader on Thursday at Union Bank Field, before the series concludes in El Reno, Oklahoma on Saturday.
