Baseball Drops Midweek at #10 Eastern OK

(March 23, 2022) Wilburton, Oklahoma - After getting ranked on Monday for the first time in school history, the Bucks schedule would not get easier. The Bucks made the short trip to NJCAA DI #10 ranked Eastern Oklahoma State College on Wednesday afternoon for a single 9-inning contest. The game was pushed back a day from the early week weather that came through the east side of Oklahoma and west side of Arkansas on Tuesday.

The Bucks would take an early 2-0 lead in the game through an inning and a half. In the top of the first inning, Chase Webb (El Dorado, AR) picked up a RBI on the centerfield after a hit by pitch and a fielder's choice to give the Bucks an 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Jackson Baker (Sherwood, AR) capitalized on a RBI single after a Mountaineer error to make it 2-0. In the bottom half of the inning, Eastern scratched across their first run against starting pitcher Travis Daniel (Dekalb, TX). The next inning, Eastern capitalized on a walk and some Bucks defensive mistakes with a grand slam and a RBI single that chased Daniel from the game, trailing 6-2.

The Bucks would fail to score for the remainder of the scheduled 9-inning game. Eastern plated runs in the fifth and seventh inning off three relief pitchers for the Bucks. In the bottom of the seventh, an error plated 3 runs for Eastern that resulted in a 12-2 run-rule in seven innings.

Travis Daniel (0-1) took the loss on the mound, giving up 6 earned runs on 7 hits. He would strikeout and a walk a pair in his 2.0 innings of work.

The Bucks have to have a short memory with a Region 2 series beginning at home Thursday afternoon against Carl Albert. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
