Bucks Fall at Seminole State

(February 8, 2022) Seminole, Oklahoma – The long wait of Bucks Baseball is finally over, and the 2022 campaign began at Seminole State College this afternoon. Last season, the Bucks finished 29-28 overall and finished as the Plains District Runner-Ups, one game shy of the College World Series.

In a game that seemed to be low scoring early on, saw a 6-run 7th inning that ultimately decided the game, 7-5 in favor of Seminole State. Drake Fontenot (Bossier City, LA) got the start for the Bucks and went 4 innings. He only gave up 1 unearned run on 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2.

The Bucks opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Catcher Eli Garrison (Little Rock, AR) hit a 2-out single to right field before scoring two hitters later on a throwing error to give the Bucks the early 1-0 lead. But, Seminole answered in the bottom of the second on an error to tie it up, 1-1.

The Bucks broke the tie in the top of the sixth inning on a solo home run Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR), but Seminole State answered with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half to take the 4-2 lead. The Bucks answered again in the top of the 7th on a 3-run blast to left field by Brayden Sites (Sheridan, AR), but Seminole answered with a 3-run inning of their own that led to the final score, 7-5 Trojans.

The Bucks saw three relievers come into the game, but Cade Shrum (Greenwood, AR) (0-1) took the loss. He pitched an inning and gave up 2 runs (1 earned), while striking out 1 and walking 2.

The Bucks play again on Thursday, February 10th, on the road at Arkansas Baptist.
