Bucks Drop Midweek Game to Eastern

(April 20, 2021) Wilburton, Oklahoma – After coming off a region series win against NOC-Enid this past weekend, the Bucks looked to keep the hot streak going against Region 2 DI foe, #9 Eastern Oklahoma State College for a 9-inning game.

The Bucks would put up 2 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the 1st. With 2 outs, Rylee Huie (Pottsville, AR) would draw a walk before Luke Rice (Scott, AR) singled. Next at-bat, Dan Taylor (Rogers, AR) doubled to score both runners. The Bucks got another walk, but a fly out ended the half inning. Carson Crawford (Humnoke, AR) got the start and surrendered 3 runs in the bottom half. The Bucks trailed 3-2 after an inning.

In the 2nd, the Bucks took the lead. The Bucks loaded the bases to start the inning. With 2 outs, Luke Rice singled to plate Tristan Doucet (Lake Arthur, LA). Dan Taylor helped his stat line with another double to plate Preston Lee (Maumelle, AR) and Mason Reynolds (Fort Worth, TX). In the bottom half, Jace Bray (Rogers, AR) made his first appearance of the season. He gave up 2 runs as the Mountaineers tied up the game at 5-5 after 2 innings.

After a scoreless 3rd and 4th innings for the Bucks, Eastern picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th off of Bray. Drake Fontenot (Bossier City, LA) came in on relief and retired the next 3 hitters, but another Eastern run was scored. The Bucks trailed 8-5 after 4 innings.

Both teams went down in order in the 5th inning. In the 6th, the Bucks plated 5 runs to regain the lead. Four consecutive walks plated Tristan Doucet. With the bases loaded and 1 out, another walk plated Preston Lee. Dan Taylor continued to stay hot with a RBI single to score Mason Reynolds. Next at-bat, Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR) singled to score Cole Clark (Clarksville, AR). Isaac Price (Siloam Springs, AR) hit into a fielder's choice double play that allowed Daegan Covington (Taylor, AR) to score. In the bottom half, Cade Shrum (Greenwood, AR) came on to pitch and gave up 3 runs before being chased from the game. Ike Pelts (Lamar, AR) entered the game and surrendered 5 more runs before recording an out. After 6 innings, Eastern held a 17-10 lead.

The Bucks went scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Mountaineers would end the game after a RBI single and 3-run homer. Bucks fall 21-1 in 8 innings.

The Bucks will begin their weekend series with Murray State College on Thursday in Tishomingo, OK.
