Bucks Drop Game 2 at Western Oklahoma

(March 26, 2021) Altus, Oklahoma – Coming off a game 1 win, the Bucks and Pioneers faced off again in a 9-inning contest. The game only went 7 innings as the Bucks fall, 18-1, moving their record to 12-10 on the year and 1-1 in region play.

The Bucks went scoreless in the top of the 1st. Grant Shankle (Van Buren, AR) got the start on the mound for the Bucks; however, his time in the game was short lived. Shankle lasted a 1/3 of an inning as the Pioneers plated 10 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Keelan Hodge (Junction City, AR) came on in relief.

In the top of the 2nd, the Bucks would plate a run. Luke Rice (Scott, AR) doubled and would later score on a pass ball. In the bottom of the inning, Hodge recorded a couple strikeouts and a flyout to hold the Pioneers at bay. WOSC led 10-1 after 2 innings.

After a scoreless top of the 3rd, the Pioneers plated 5 more runs, 4 off a grand slam surrendered by Hodge. The Pioneers led 15-1 after 3 innings. On offense in the 4th, the Bucks again went in order, and the Pioneers added to their lead with 2 more runs, 17-1 after 4.

In the top of the 5th, Preston Lee (Maumelle, AR) doubled with 2 outs, but he would be stranded as the Bucks could not produce any runs. WOSC picked up where the left off and led off with a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th, but Hodge threw a double play ball to get out of the inning. WOSC led 18-1.

In the 6th, the Bucks stranded Will Dolan (Sugar Land, TX) after he singled. In the bottom half, Ike Pelts (Lamar, AR) came on in relief. He was able to strand the bases load to get out of the inning unscathed.

The Bucks went in order in order to end the game in the 7th inning. WOSC wins 18-1.

The Bucks will try again tomorrow as they face WOSC to conclude their Region 2 series opener. First pitch is at 12 pm in Altus, OK.
