Bucks Down #20 Iowa Central

(February 27th) Millington, TN – After last night's come from behind victory over Glen Oaks, the Bucks returned to USA Baseball Stadium this morning to take on the #20 Iowa Central Tritons for a 7 inning game. The Bucks would never trail in the game and won 8-2.

Getting the start on the mound, Morrilton's Maddox Long (2-1) pitched 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 8 Triton hitters in the win. The loan run came off of a solo homerun in the 5th inning. Brayden Ross (Charleston, AR) came on in relief and pitched 2 innings. He only gave up 1 run and struck out 1.

In the bottom of the 1st, Chase Webb (El Dorado, AR) singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With 1 out, Webb scored on Daegan Covington's (Taylor, AR) ground to the pitcher. The Bucks got a 2 out single by Luke Rice (Scott, AR), but he would get thrown at trying to steal 2nd base to end he inning.

The Bucks would plate another run in the bottom of the second. Dan Taylor (Rogers, AR) would get hit by a pitch and advanced to 2nd on an error before being drove home by Wesley Featherston's RBI single to centerfield. After a scoreless 3rd inning, the Bucks would get another run in the 4th. Featherston led off with a single and advanced to 2nd on a balk before being driven home by Pottsville's Rylee Huie. Huie doubled to left field.

After a solo homerun in the 5th inning off of Long, the Bucks held the Tritons at bay. The Bucks offense picked the run up for Long in the bottom half. After a walk and back-to-back singles, Adam Quinn (Texarkana, TX) would hit a sacrifice fly to right field to play Rice. The Bucks led 4-1 after 5 innings.

Brayden Ross came in to relieve Long in the 6th inning and stranded 2 runners to keep them scoreless. The Bucks offense would produce 4 insurance runs in unique fashion. With 1 out and a runner on 1st, the Bucks would be hit by a pitch, walk 3 consecutive hitters, be hit by another pitch, and walk again to produce all 4 runs.  

To close out the top of the 7th, Ross surrendered a solo homerun, but then put the Tritons down in order to seal the Bucks win, 8-2. Brayden Ross picked up his first save of the season.

The Bucks move to 5-4 on the year and are scheduled to wrap up the Babe Howard JUCO Classic at 3 pm vs. Mineral Area CC.
