Pirates Baseball Season Ends In NJCAA Plains District Tournament

Pirates Baseball ended their season at 26-21 following a pair of losses in the NJCAA Plains District Tournament.  On Sunday, the Pirates dropped a pitcher's duel 2-0 to the University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain.  Monday saw defensive miscues lead to a 7-5 defeat to Northern Oklahoma College-Tonakawa.

Sophomore Keven Franco (6-3) twirled a complete game gem against Rich Mountain, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits.  However, the Pirates offense couldn't get any traction against the Bucks.  NCMC totaled no runs and only 3 hits, all coming from sophomore catcher Tanner Sears

In the elimination game with Tonkawa, the Pirates had timely defensive miscues which led to 5 unearned runs.  The offense valiantly tried to make up for the errors but fell short.  Genesis Nunez led the attack going 3-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs.  Taking the loss on the mound was Koby Linder (3-3) who tossed 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits.  Jay Greco pitched well in relief, allowing no earned runs over 5 innings pitched.

NCMC's 26 wins are a school record for the baseball program.
