Three Cross Country Athletes Named as Academic All-Americans

(March 10, 2020) Mena, Arkansas - The NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association recently released their individual and team Academic All-American listings with three Bucks athletes making the list. Sophomore, Michael Tenorio, and freshmen, Shannan Gardner and Clint Buck, were named as Academic All-Americans by the NJCAA Coaches Association. In order to be named an an Individual Academic All-American, a student-athlete must be enrolled as a full-time student and complete the Fall semester with a 3.4 GPA or higher. To qualify as a team, there must be 5 nominations per team that averages a 3.2 GPA. The individuals and team must be nominated by their coach, who must be a member of the coaches association. Coach Shores couldn't be prouder of her trio of athletes. "This is the second year in a row to have 3 athletes on the Academic All-American list. We ask a lot out of our student-athletes on a daily basis. This group not only excelled on the course and in training, but they got it done in the classroom as well. I'm extremely proud of their efforts."

Tenorio is a sophomore from Sante Fe, New Mexico that is planning to study Sociology after he transfers from UA Rich Mountain. He finished the Fall 2019 semester with a 3.4 GPA and is scheduled to graduate in May with his Associate's of General Studies degree. 

Gardner is a 2019 graduate of Cabot High School that is pursuing a career in the Criminal Justice field. She finished the Fall 2019 semester with a 3.44 GPA. 

Buck is a Mena native that graduated high school in 2018. He is studying General Technology at UARM and is currently completing an electrical internship at Aleshire Electric. He finished the Fall 2019 semester with a 3.63 GPA.
