Mendez Honored at Annual Two Year College Conference

Little Rock, Arkansas - Marlenne Mendez (Fort Smith, AR) was honored on Tuesday morning at the annual Arkansas Community Colleges Conference. Mendez was selected as UA Rich Mountain's Academic All-Star this past spring by administration. She was recognized in front of all conference attendees during brunch in the Ballroom at the Downtown Marriott. She was one of 22 honorees recognized. Each community college in the state selects an Academic All Star based on students having a 3.25 cumulative GPA, being involved in campus and community activities, and plans to attend a 4-year university in Arkansas. After the banquet, Marlenne received the opportunty visit with multiple universities about the opportunity to attend their school. Each All-Star receives a scholarship to the school of their choice within the state. 

Marlenne is the 2018 graduate of Northside High School in Fort Smith and is a member of the Bucks Cross Country team for the past two seasons. Not only does she excell on the courses she faces each weekend, she also excels in the classroom. After the Fall 2018 semester, Marlenne was selected as a Scholar Athlete by the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association. After finishing her first year at UARM with a 3.64 cumulative GPA over two semesters, she landed on the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team. After graduating with her Associate of Arts degree from UA Rich Mountain in Spring 2020, Marlenne plans to pursue her Bachelors of Science in Education. She wants to become a coach and teach mathematics. She is still deciding on which university to attend next Fall.
